Introductory text
To replace the 850 kg Rosalie commercial vehicles, Citroën invented a new concept: the front-wheel drive van. To illustrate, two pioneering models: aTraction Utilitaire Basse (TUB, literally Utility Bottom Traction), then a Traction Utilitaire de type C (TUC, literally C-type Utility Traction), which revisit the mechanics of the 7 and 11 front-wheel drives.
What’s new? Front-wheel drive, the sliding side door, the lower loading floor, allowing one to fully stand up in the rear, forward control, and easy access to the rear from the front.
Originating between 1939 and 1941, the eve of the world war, the TUB/TUC has a short, little-known career. But after the war, their spirit is revived. The former TUB inspires the Type H, nicknamed the TUB by the general public. The most recent tribute to its style, inventiveness and initial name: the Tubik Concept in 2011.
